I attended High Tea at the Willard for my 27th Birthday last year. I called it “ 27 and Tea” and I loved it! I had such a great experience! The staff was very kind and the food was delicious. It was a very airy and sophisticated lazy brunch feel…. And who doesn’t love brunch!

Atmosphere:

Peacock Alley is picture-esc with an old-money worldly feel. There was a beautiful harp player, who was so talented and played everything from the lion king to game of thrones. I love classical music, it’s one of my favorite genres so this was a big plus for me. At the end of the tea, we just sat and admired her play it was quite the moment. There is a bit of foot traffic and hustle and bustle but it doesn’t interrupt the good moment. There are beautiful pieces of artwork & wallpaper on the walls along with chandeliers. There were beautiful floral arrangements throughout.

Food & Drinks:

The food was surprisingly filling. Each person gets a 3 tier cake stand that comes with pastries and scones, small tea sandwiches, and desserts. You also get to pick from an assortment of tea’s that was delicious. We opted for the High Tea with the bottle of Moet of course because who doesn’t want a little champagne with their brunch? I thought I was going to be hungry because the portion was small but I was the complete opposite. Very full.

Attire:

If you know me then you know I believe inappropriate dressing. So, of course, I was fully dressed in English style Tea attire. With ruffles and a fascinator and all. Some people were dressed similar to me and my crew. But some people were dressed in casual everyday attire. I would recommend dressing accordingly simply because it ties into the experience and you don’t want to look out of place.

Experience:

I was very pleased with what I got for the price. My bill totaled to about $75-$80 with tip and all. For an everyday brunch that would be too expensive but I think for the experience it was well worth it. I would compare it to a summer day out in DC, from the day party to dinner to a night outing you would easily spend the same amount. The brunch lasted for about 4 hours which seems extreme but it went by pretty quickly. I think the experience lasted about 2.5-3 from start to finish. I would recommend going and I also will be going back as well.

In the end we went into an open ballroom to take pictures and one of the waiters was all for it. He turned the lights on and took all of our pictures for us. He was such a great sport! It really made my day! Have you been to The Willard? Did you know they have a spa? Let me know what your experience was like below! Until next time….

XOXO,

KVT
