Goal Setting: Strategy, Intentionality, and Mindfulness

Mindfulness has allowed me to take my brand to the next level. This technique along with strategy & intentionality have been a complete #gamechanger for me. In the last couple of years, I have gone from a focused dreamer to an intentional achiever who can track my goals and accomplishments while pursuing my dreams. My circle of friends has played a big role in this. They’ve introduced new goal setting techniques, and methodologies, that I probably wouldn’t have come across on my own. I’ve always had a plan, and I’ve always had lofty goals, I’ve also always achieved my overall goals. But, I never really tracked my goal progress. I just knew that some years I reached all of my goals and other years I didn’t. I now can see my progress and plan my future, I can also execute in a way that I wasn’t able to previously. This is what I’ve learned:

Strategy: A plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim. The word strategy became prevalent to me about two years ago and it immediately changed my perspective. It allowed me to narrow my focus and become more intentional. It essentially allowed me to give myself a blue print to achieve my goals along with actionable steps. My personality is very much “I do what I want when I want” so discipline in areas like routine have been hard for me to conquer. Strategy allowed me to be clear about this concept: Your actions today, determine who you will be tomorrow, or in 5 years.

Intentionality: The fact of being deliberate or purposeful. Being more intentional can come off and look different to everyone. Being intentional looks like, not buy things you just like and only buying things you love. It could look like dressing for the job you want instead of the job you have. It can look like only having one drink when you go out instead of three. It also helps you realize the difference between your wants and needs. It helps you not waist time in toxic relationships, be a better friend, and it also keeps you accountable.

Mindfulness: A mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. This concept is so helpful in life but especially in business. I have a coach that I work with Ashley Thompson of “The Asha Code”. She is truly gifted at what she does and has helped me define my niche & brand. She has also helped me take ALL of my business ideas and illustrate how they make sense for my brand. We have also created a 5+ year plan for the brand. Now, I not only have insight but I also have foresight. She is not only innovative in her approach, but personable and realistic. She truly can take your brand or business to the next level. We had a two hour phone call that allowed me to put things in motion that I had to tried to launch on my own for a year and a half. She's the best! Period.

XOXO,
