Event Recap: VC Polo Classic {NY}

Event Recap: VC Polo Classic {NY}

I’ve wanted to go to the Veuve Clicquot [Verve Klee-Coh] (VC) Polo Classic in New York for about two years. With an event like this, you have to be ON IT because tickets sell out day/ week of. I was pressed, didn’t know what I planned to wear or who I was even going with but I didn’t care as long as I was going! The rest would just have to fall into place. Which of course, it did! That is one thing about me, I’m not afraid to go places on my own. Life is too short to wait for people to have great experiences! Plus, most events I attend I end up knowing someone anyway!

Atmosphere: When I say #BlackExcellence it is an understatement. Everyone was dressed to the nines. To be honest it was filled with a ton of black people. This isn’t the norm at polo matches so it was definitely refreshing to see. It was a hot day but the energy was high. People were showing up and showing out! There were a plethora of handsome men, it was just hard to tell who was actually available, with their girlfriend, or gay. The air was filled with affluence and the music was amazing. I just wish they would have released the playlist. The music wasn’t super mainstream but also didn’t cater to a specific genre. It was a nice surprise.

Food & Drinks: I missed the memo that they had food trucks on-site. In true KVT fashion, I packed a picnic basket full of food enough for 4 people even though I was just going with my girl Jessie. I had a ton of friends attending so I wanted everyone to eat well, drink up and be merry.

Attire: I was really inspired by how creative people got with their outfits. From tutu’s to jacquard blazer dresses, to women’s power suits there was a little bit of everything yet it all seemed appropriate for the occasion! I wore a flowered jumpsuit and a fascinator. Since it was my first time I wanted to be comfortable and appropriate but also bright and fierce. I think I achieved the look I was going for. Next year I will definitely be taking it up a notch.

Experience: I had an amazing time! I can’t wait to go again! It literally felt like I was in an episode of The Great Gatsby! With that… there were a few things I just wasn’t prepared for like the COST. Maybe I was naive to assume that my ticket would afford me more than just a ride via ferry to the event. Which btw still required a mile walk to actually get to the park which was a lot in heels and a heavy picnic basket. Before getting on the boat they gave us a wristband that had a bottle, and two goblet glasses on it that were removable. I assumed I would get at least one bottle or glass for free. Nope! We paid for everything. The wristbands are a way to monitor consumption which I thought was smart.

The goblet glass was a decent size and filled to the top with a lot of ice which I appreciated due to the heat. But the champagne cocktails cost $25-$36 each. The bottles were $110-$145. This is ALOT more expensive then the $45 bottle of VC I get from Costco. I wasn’t ready lol.

Merch! I must say the branding is amazing! I really couldn’t be mad at the prices because I respect the hustle! The merch was quality and the packaging was even nicer. I definitely kept my bag and added 4 new glasses to my bar cart. They are made of a nice strong plastic that looks like glass which is perfect for parties!

I look forward to going again, I had the best time! There is also a VC polo classic in LA that happens in fall around October. I will have to check that one out as well. Have you been to the Polo Classic? What was your experience like? Leave a comment below!

XOXO,
