The Spirit of Washington

The Spirit of Washington

I had the privilege of experiencing The Spirit of Washington through a blogger’s union that I am apart of called The DC Bloggers. They reached out to the union to ask for our participation in a promotional photoshoot. A photo op, free food, free drinks, and music?? SIGN ME UP!

Atmosphere: If you love the water like I do, then an evening on the Potomac is exactly what you need.  SW is such a beautiful area and creates such a serene and upscale feeling. Local boat owners dock at Georgetown, National Harbor, and in SW. You can look forward to the panoramic view, it will not disappoint! The Spirit of Washington has three levels; the top level is set up like a rooftop bar with outdoor seating and greenery. The middle level is half covered and half open with mini games like golf, shuffle board and a large “Connect 4” and “Jenga”. The lower level has a dance floor and seating for dinner along with a DJ.

Food & Drink: The food is set up in a buffet style with a dessert table across the room on the other side of the dance floor. The bar was open so of course the premium liquor was flowing. The drinks were made well, but everything tastes better when it’s free. Lol The food was good, seasoned well with enough variety for everyone to be able to get a full plate if they desired.

Attire: There was a variety of attire, from casual evening wear to business professional. Which was requested for the photo op. Because I believe in appropriate dressing, whenever a boating opportunity arises, I love to dress in some sort of nautical attire. I couldn’t do that for this event, but it is something to think about when you are headed to your next adventure.

Experience:  I had a great time! It was nice to meet new people who weren’t apart of my normal crowd. There was a group of young black professionals fresh out of college I bonded with. Then there was the Redskin Cheerleader’s Association that I danced the night away with. Just because they are retired cheerleaders doesn’t mean that stopped their ability to move. Those women took over the dance floor and out dance most of the people there. They were full of energy and I couldn’t get enough of it. With the help of my new friends we shut that boat down. It was amazing. I’m pretty sure in one of my many past lives I was a professional dancer of some sort.

I would recommend a night on the Potomac with The Spirit of Washington. It is well worth the money, and a great evening out weather you are with your group of friends, a professional circle, or your spouse.

XOXO,

KVT
